That seems like a valid question. Haven’t you ever thought about it? If asked that question could you answer it? I don’t think I could without pondering on it somewhat. So why not give it some thought? Let’s do it together. I always like to start with defining key words when I do a study. It helps clarify my subject and often gives me a foundation to build on. Thus, let’s start with the word value. What do we exactly mean when we use that word? The word value can be used as a noun or as a verb. When we look at the word value as a noun it means the worth or importance that is given to something. In contrast when we look at using value as a verb it means to hold in respect. Okay I could wrap my arms around the noun. For we know that God gives much worth to us and we are so very important to Him by what he did for us. He sent His only begotten Son so that we would have life and not perish. (John 3:16) How can we not agree that this sacrifice on the part of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit show how important we are in His eyes? (John 17:21-23) Now the word value used as a verb leads me down a different road of thought. How exactly would God hold us me in respect? After all we I’m are “not worthy to untie His sandals”. (Acts 13:25) To wrap my arms around this I have to ask more questions. What does it mean to “hold us in respect”? Why would God hold us in respect? Does He have a reason to hold us in respect? If God is to hold us in respect then He would have regard in His design or His purpose. Okay now this is starting to make a little sense; His design. Did the Father create you? Didn’t He create you in His own image? So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27) What was His purpose for creating man? The scriptures show us we are to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. That is the chief end of man. (Romans 11:36; Psalm 29:2) Now it makes complete sense when you take those two individual thoughts and join them. God values us because He made us with the intent to have full fellowship with Him. For us to enjoy companionship with Him and He with His creation! Wow - To be in company with our Lord!
Isn’t that beautiful!!??!!
As God leaves his mark upon us we should leave His impression upon others!!
