It’s a New Year! I love the New Year because it is a time to reflect on what I did well the previous year, what I need to correct and setting new goals for the incoming year. This year I broke my goals into three categories that I wanted to concentrate on specifically. These are areas that I want to improve on. The first is Physical Fitness, second is Skin Fitness and third, which I believe is the most important, Spiritual Fitness.
Physical Fitness
It is so exciting that it is a brand New Year! The great part of a New Year is that we are starting with a brand new slate. One tradition that many people follow is to start the New Year with New Year’s Resolutions. After speaking with several friends, I have concluded that many start with a list that typically has the same items from the year before. Often at the top of our list are our fitness goals for the year. The word fitness has a lot of definitions. For example, fitness could mean that you want to lose those last stubborn 10 lbs, or it could mean that you need to do a fitness overhaul and loose a substantial amount of weight, or perhaps it just means that you want to be healthy. Healthy of course means different things to different people. For me healthy means that I’m watching my carbs, eating an appropriate amount of protein and vegetables and carefully watching my sugar intake. For those of you that know me, I have the biggest sweet tooth! It also means to me that I am active. Active in the sense that I am doing some type of exercise, i.e. walking, bike riding, and swimming you get the picture. Then there are all those other goals that I’d like to achieve, carefully placed on my timeline. This year I hope that you will consider joining me by putting two other types of Fitness goals on your list: Skin Fitness & Spiritual Fitness.
Skin Fitness
As a Skin Fitness Coach I cannot emphasize how a good skin care regimen is essential for younger, healthy looking skin. With all the ads in the marketplace it’s hard to know what direction to take. Spiritual Fitness
Third, you need to be sure that you have a daily Spiritual Fitness Plan. A daily Workout with God the Father, God the Son & God the Holy Spirit is number ONE!!! The time you spend with the Lord is key for being prepared to face each day. God is so specific in how he tells us to prepare daily. When my son was a little boy he loved BibleMan. BibleMan is a human transformed by the Word of God that becomes a superhero that fights evil, and wins incredible battles! It was action packed and it was a great way to share the gospel visually with young children. One of my favorite parts of BibleMan was the beginning of the show when he was putting on his costume as he transformed from Josh Carpenter to BibleMan. I love the way the creators of the show took Ephesians 6:14-17 and incorporated into the transformation of man to character. I love the way the words in Ephesians came to life right before my eyes. Watching BibleMan put on his “armor” to face the power of the dark world is exactly what God wants us to do. Sure we don’t have a costume to wear but He provides us with all the tools. God wants us to be prepared to put on the full armor of God daily. As you dress daily be sure to stand firm in the belt of truth with the breastplate of righteousness (v.14) have your feet fitted in peace (v.15) take up the shield of faith (v. 16) and wear the helmet of salvation & the sword of the Spirit (v.17). God has said it! He provides the vehicles for us to be strong in Him and in his power. What an awesome God we serve!!
As your wrap up your goals for the New Year, be sure that you have looked at your personal goals, your fitness goals, your skin fitness goals and most importantly your Spiritual Fitness goals!!
